Has anyone figured out a way to 'black out' the...

...aluminum part of the OEM running boards?

The only way to do it properly is to remove the boards from the car and disassemble the boards until they look like this (black "dots" are removed from the back):

... then powder coat or paint the aluminum piece.

Would powder coat be 'durable' enough to withstand normal use?

Powder coat is more durable than paint.

I hated getting my pants dirty on the aluminum boards so I swapped them out for the thinner all black OEM side skirts, I am much happier now.

I hated my running boards, and took them off. Car looks better, also yes my pants got dirty every time, especially if it was rainy.

I like this idea also. Do you have the part number for the thin side skirts?

just got the car and starting to get annoyed at the running boards. I haven't figured out how to get out of the car by stepping on them... not stepping on them guarantees I rub my pants on them.....

They are the perfect size to be useless...too small to step on but too big to step over.
