Troubleshoot random TPMS error

Every now and then the dash lights up with a TPMS malfunction. No pattern or repeatable action can trigger it.

The dash chimes, beeps, shows the error on the dash for about 10sec, then disappears. It's not logged on the dash under the service area.

Any way to diagnose that, or just have the dealer fix it?

Having the dealer dianose it will likely end up being very expensive. They love chasing the problem by throwing parts at it.

Anyways

What Causes a TPMS Sensor to Fail?

Sensors fail primarily due to battery failure or improper service procedures. However, most service technicians know how to install and check and service a vehicle’s TPMS system effectively.
Sounds like a cheap DIY way to eliminate most likely cause..

So basically what you posted tells me to just replace the sensors, but which? All of them?

It also states the batteries would last 5+ years. I've got a 2yr old car with 50k miles on it.

I was saying that leaving investigation to dealer may cost a lot, so do your own investigation. The first pointer is TPMS sensor batteries. They may or may not be replaceable.

But, if you still have warranty - drop it off and let them poke around. Of course, let us know how it went.
