Passenger Seat Belt Chime "Not Working"

I hope someone can help, passenger seat belt chime doesn't come on when a passenger in the seat. I noticed most of the posts are the opposite of my problem. I bought the car used, so I am woundering if the previous owner did something to disable it. Any ideas. Thanks.

Most of us would like to figure out how to make it work like that. It may be possible to turn off with coding, but it is possible the pressure matt is not working, which would be a concern since the airbag may not deploy. Does the airbag light on the days go on and off based on someone sitting on the seat, or does it say airbag is off when someone is in the seat? That would tell you if the matt is working.

The quick and dirty way to disable the chime is the sensor in the seat belt receptacle being disabled, there is a wiring harness under the seat that plugs into the seat belt receptacle and if you unplug it and connect the wires so that it thinks the seat belt is always plugged in, then the chime will disable, might want to check for tampering there.

I haven't seen it done on an X5, but from the back of the seat, look under the seat where the seatbelt receptacle is mounted to the floor and see if you see the plug for the wiring harness - if it was disabled there, it would be unplugged with a jumper wire or something keeping a constant connection.

Hi everyone, this is still bothering me, I am fraid the passenger side Airbag won't deploy because of this, i asked the dealer and he claimed my x5 doesnt have this option! I don't really think so, all cars these days come with passenger side seatbelt warning option. Any advice is really appreciated.

Silly question but do you drive about 30 seconds first with a passenger in there? I know some cars chime instantly when there is a passenger and no seatbelt is on.

It never comes on even after driving for miles, I am not sure if it's coding issue or the seat sensor is bad. Since I am not the first onwer, I am sure if the previous owner had disbaled it.
