2012 X5 Recall

Just read recall on many 2011 & 2012 for water pump & fire. In case this hasn't already been noted.

Bmw is recalling certain model year 2011 5-series, 5-series gran turismo, model year 2012 6-series convertible, 7-series, x5 sav, and x6 sav vehicles equipped with 8- or 12-cylinder, turbocharged, engines because the circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump can overheat.

This could lead to a smoldering of the pump or an engine compartment or vehicle fire.

Bmw will notify owners, and dealers will replace the auxiliary water pump free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during april 2012. Owners may contact bmw customer relations and services at 1-800-525-7417.

Got mine done with the oil pump 3-4 months ago

talked with my service advisor and he said this recall doesn't apply to my x5m.. Have any of you guys talked with your dealerships to see what they said about this?

Same... Got mine done as well about 4 months ago.. I received a letter in the mail back around November/Dec... Better to be safe than sorry.. Pretty sure there was a thread back then too..
