USA 2012 CIC idrive question

2012 owners that have idrive + nav. Can you do me a quick favor.

Just did a CIC retrofit on my 2009, and just checking functionality of features/buttons. etc. The owners manual is a bit vague at times :-)

On the main CIC front panel, can you tell me what the MODE button does for you:

1) Does it cycle through all available entertainment and radio bands, eg

FM ... SAT ... WB ... CD ... AUX or USB ...

2) or Does it merely toggle between Radio (last chosen channel) and CD/Multimedia (last selection).

3) something else ??
