2010 X6M Space Gray + 35i Triumphs & Tribulations
I have decided to cancel my X6 xDrive 35i and get the X6M. Even though the rear on the X6M is displeasing right now, the X6M has every other feature I want. I had souped up my 35i to literally be an X6M as it was costing $80,00 USD so I said to hell with it and ordered an X6M
I read over a couple posts where people mentioned that if you are already spending that kind of money whats an extra 10 or 15 grand and it really does make sense. I was so concerned about making sure my 35i had every single option that it was almost the base price of the X6M. The 35i I had souped up was basically a V6 version of the X6M. I was getting the 7RR Performance Upgrade on it as well. It was turning out to be more of a headache than anything else with the 21" style 275 wheels being the only decent looking wheel option but the price is ridiculous. I didnt feel like I was customizing my car by selecting all of thsoe options; rather, I was getting a car with little to no options, picking and choosing what I wanted and I still couldnt be satisfied. The X6M fills the gap where the 35i & 50i leave off. The replacement tires for the 21" style 275 wheels are about $550 bucks apiece and only available in Summer Performance tires. Atleast with the stock X6M rims I can put All Season tires on them and that is important because I live in the Northwest. If you are going to spend the $6,500 for the 21" style 275 dont do it, just apply that $6,500 to the cost of an X6M. Do it right or dont do it at all. My car will get driven 2,500 miles or less a year. I just dont want high maintenance costs after purchase & having 2 sets of rims from the 35i if I had gotten the style 275 wheels would do that. Even though the X6M is more expensive up front, with the cost of tires and other crap you will spend money on to upgrade your 35i and 50i you could have got an X6M. I am planning on leaving the car stock unless Hamann wants to experiment with a Tycoon kit and needs an X6M for the task. I wouldnt have a problem parting with it for 6 months to a year, I travel a lot anyway and have other vehicles. All in all, I had started with intentions of buying the cheapest X6 and souping it up. Realizing that my car would have been all show & no go set in & I quickly made the change to the X6M to avoid the embarassment. The 35 & 50i are impressive and cool if you want to impress people who know nothing about BMW's. Most people will be impressed with the exhaust design on the 35i and especially the 50i but if u wanna run with the big dogs, you have to go with the X6M. ---------- 2010 X6M Bi-Turbo V-8 4.4-Liter 550 HP 500 lb-ft of torque Color: Space Gray Metallic In addition to the standard features, here are my upgrades:
Total MSRP as Built $99,925 ---------- On a lighter note I checked about the 7RR Performance Upgrade for the X6M & BMW told me the X6M has already been tuned to perfection. So basically what that means, is only the weaker models such as the 35i & 50i will have that option. Cheers Last edited by artrosis; 11-03-2009 at 05:29 PM.. |

Congrats!! I went in to test drive the 35i and wanted it just like you said. After all the options it only made sense to get the more expensive one. Having had a 550i with the M package before I hated how it was not the M5. So I ended up changing my mind and getting the x6m.
I think you will not regret the decision!!! |

Only 2500 miles... pity!
Congratulations!
However,I guarantee that once u get x6m, the 2500miles/yr idea goes out the window! Power is intoxicating! U will succumb to The Force! Unless u have other Supercars/ M /AMG cars, u'll want to drive x6m all the time! If u get an M car u should not compromise w/ all seasons tires, U r going to save a couple of hours of mechanics' wheel change labor 2x/yr & approx.$7000 not having an xtra set of wheels w/season dedicated tires, after spending $100,000+ for the x6m? Come to the Darkside, & succumb completely to the Force! Resistance is futile! |
