2010 iDrive - Question about storing songs on the hard drive

I just received my X6M yesterday and tried to transfer songs from a CD from the changer to the hard drive.

I am not getting the option to store the songs ... the option doesnt even exist like it says in the owners manual.

Is it because they are music CDs purchased from the store (v.s ones that have been burned) ... do they have copy protection?

I just thought of this ... do you have to try it from the in-dash CD player and not the changer?

Or do I have to somehow transfer to USB device (which I dont have)

I was really excited about this feature, so I could move my CD library to the drive ... but no luck ... anyone have any idea?

mine works from the in-dash player so try it from there... good luck and congrats on the car

Yes, that is was issue ... you have to do it from the single Disk CD/DVD player, not the changer. Thanks!

Why not just use an iPOD?

Not sure why you would choose an obsolete system over simplicity.
