Nav screen starts reddish/orange then goes blank 2012 E70

On 2 occasions, the Nav screen on my 2012 E70 has started with a solid reddish/orange screen. A few seconds after start up, the screen changes to solid black. The Radio, phone, etc were working, the screen was just black. Everything stayed this way through several restarts over the course of the day. The next morning, the nav screen started up normally and worked fine.

I suspect it is the video card (or whatever BMW calls it) going bad.

Has anyone dealt with something similar?

The tech at the dealer has been very good. He is opening a Puma case to get more information. I'll keep you updated on the results.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts happening randomly or more often. Might be a problem when booting the software... BMW isn't known for making the most bug-free things, unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply. I would rather start the documentation now. If it is hardware that is failing, I have enough time to get it fixed under warranty.

The post is old.

I would suggest looking into AVIN's replacement screens.

You'd be surprised how amazing these are!
