M Performance Package (MPP)

Hi all
Did anybody get his/her new X5 with the new M Performance Package? if so, coud you please post a review and some pictures of any changes. I am interested in the MPP on the X5 3.5i as I am putting my order in before weekend. it says in the product guide that this package adds 15 hp and 30 lb.ft to the engine specs...does a 15 hp increase make a difference? are the muffler tips really black? any other changes, for example exhaust sound, handling, response, turbo lag...? any help is greatly appreciated.

M Performance Pack

I have the M Performance Pack on a 50i so this may not be exactly what you were asking.

The exhaust tips are black, the brake and gas pedals are rimmed in chrome and look good next to the chrome M dead plate (that is part of the M Sport Package).

My dealer says he thinks the exhaust sounds throatier than a normal 50i, but I don't have anything to compare to since the 50i sounds so much different than my previous 35i.

It adds 40hp and 35 ft/lbs of torque (I think) on the 50i. I am not sure that it would be noticeable compared to a normal 50i, at least to me. The base engine is crazy powerful as it is but someone who is coming from a 50i to a 50i with the M Performance Pack might be able to tell the difference.

Price-wise it seemed like a pretty good deal on the 50i since it gives about 1/2 the gains of a Dinan tune for about 1/2 the cost, plus you get the tips and the different pedals.

I am happy with the power and the pedals/tips (have a black car so the tips look pretty cool), but most of my driving (mainly suburban) seems to be below 2k RPMs and I don't think the torque gains kick in until > 2000 RPMs. But when you punch the accelerator the power is there.

Hope that helps. Best of luck.

I ordered a 35i with the ZMX package which is being shipped to my dealer right now. Originally ordered it in Feb. as soon as the 2013 pricing guide came out and should have it June 1st if all goes according to plan. I'll throw up some pics as soon as I get them.

I decided on the performance package because I have the PPK on my 135i, I can tell the difference between stock and the PPK on it and I imagine there will be the same difference on the X5. Hoping it has the increased throttle response that the PPK gave as well as the boost in midrange power, we'll see.

I also got the PPK for my 09 135 Vert, and there is a nice difference and no warranty problems. We had a 06 X5 4.4 which was great. May get a X5 5.0 and would get the performance package on that.
