New member: 2012 X5 xDrive 35i Premium
Just bought my first BMW. It's a used 2012 X5 with 126,000 miles. Overall in good shape but of course has some things that I will fix. I have joined this forum and also Bimmerfest forums for information (and a FB group even though I hate FB). This was the nicest X5 I could find within a reasonable distance. All of the others had major issues, or they were scam ads. I'm pretty excited to have a nice comfortable daily driver in order to keep the miles, wear and tear down on my boosted 2005 S2000. I will also use the X5 to pull my small boat, and use it to move my car trailer when needed, so I'm happy that it has a trailer hitch.
Some of the good: 20" BMW wheels (can someone tell me what they are from?) w/ new tires Fresh alignment Previous owner provided receipts for having a bunch of coolant lines, reservoir, water pump/hoses and pedal assembly replaced Brakes all replaced recently Transfer case fluid changed Air condition works VERY well Included original owners manual and window sticker Some of the bad/things I will fix: Front sunshade fabric is loose Driver's side outer tail light is cracked (dm me if you have one) Missing BMW emblem from rear hatch and engine cover Driver's front comfort access handle inoperative Navigation screen looks like it is flaking off or somehow worn away Some of the icons on the buttons on the dash are worn off Has a weird squeak noise from the rear seat/hatch area when making a sharp right turn Front suspension has a slight clunk over small bumps Paint on top of front fenders faded (thanks to Florida sun) Headlight lenses are a little foggy, will sand/polish/PPF Previous owner put some kind of yellow film on the fog lights and it was burned by the bulbs, so if you notice in the pics they look like eyeballs, that's why. Passenger side fog light housing has broken mounting tab All 3 windshield wipers are shot Only came with 1 key fob Has a few dents/dings but its pretty decent for a 12 year old vehicle Up first: Wipers Looking for a driver's side tail light Looking for a passenger side fog light, or pair of fog lights (any upgrades available?) Figure out how to fix the sunshade fabric Add OEM BMW trailer wiring (let me know if you're selling) Order touch up paint Find a good PDR guy to fix a couple dents Investigating suspension noise I have already found these forums to be extremely valuable. There is a ton of information here. |

Welcome,
Nice ride, and a to do list so you will have something to do. If you didn’t read about it, check the olifilterhousing for leaks, easy to tell, if the front of the Engine is very dirty, it will damage the belt and than can give you a lot of trouble. |
