These are completely different animals.
My wife really doesn't like my 2010 X6M (DARN!!) so she never drives it. Overall the drive in the ///M version is a bit rougher, but the EDC does a great job adjusting the ride so I always find it comfortable. The performance on the ///M is just fantastic. I race my friends in their fancy coupes and really frustrate them. The 6 speed is responsive at most any speed and RPM, and the dual clutch is just angry at shift. You can't lose with either, but I am highly biased towards any ///M Have fun and be safe. |

I've owned an x6 50 and an x5M and it really depends on your preference. The x6 50 has a great classic BMW feel...especially without adaptive drive...heavy feeling steering, tightly dampened, etc. To me, the M is actually less enjoyable to drive around town (for example the throttle is slushy in normal mode to save mpgs) but is much sportier when you push it...you really can't help but smile when you punch it just because it's so awesomely unnecessary for an SUV to perform like that.

Since we are posting on an older thread, I'll add in my 2 cents...
I love the exhaust sound on the 50i, to me, probably the best sounding BMW exhaust out there (and yes, superior to the M). I also love the fact that I can get Active Steering and Vermillion Red on the 50i. However, if I could only have one car and I needed the ride height of the X, then I would think the M would do just fine. I do however still need to drive my friends 50i with Dinan tune.... PS - as posted only a test drive can tell you want you want to know.

Money?
I think some research should be done and what your price point is. If you don't care about gas or maintenance costs want variable vane turbos and M's all over the place then..... I guess that sums it up IMHO of course
