Extended Warranty or Maintenance

Extended Warranty or Maintenance on a 2012 X6 3.5? Thoughts on which is a better value?

Maintenance is very questionable, value-wise.
2-yr/30kmiles, means 1-oil change, 2-wiper sets, maybe air-filter, 1 brake flush. If you drive super-agressive and very close to 15k/yr maybe brake pads. And that's for $2400 usually.

ext-waranty, that's up to you in terms of comfort level.
I never own any of these, cause I prefer DIY, also I don't drive much.
I own 3 BMWs since new and now a used BMW, so I may get ext-waranty cause the complexity of the engine and depleting DIYers (used to be easy not re-inventing the wheel, cause everytime I need to DIY someone else already done it, I just copied their works).

I would get the extended warranty if it provides full coverage. I love my x6 but I probably had at least $5K worth of warranty work done during the first three years, including replacing all fuel injectors and replacing defective pump lines

5yr and 6yr seems too short, it's really 1yr and 2yr extension from original waranty!

The 7-yr would make sense, but thats more than 10% of the car value. I am still on the fence.

I went with aftermarket extended warranty on my 2011 X5M.
Price was very reasonable and I still can repair from BMW dealership.
I'm sure it's not going to be the smooth process as BMW's own but I figured it's good enough as long as it covers all the expensive parts for the monster.

Would you mind sharing where you got your aftermarket warranty? or PM me? My X6M is running out of warranty and I am debating what to do with it. Thanks.

Not many aftermarket warranty company offer extended warranty for M/AMG cars since they have potential to eat a lot of cash from the company.

But when I was researching, I found out to buy extended warranty from:
long history of their business with decent BBB rating: it shows you that they'll prob. not go out of business after you pay chunk of your money. and since it's not BMW warranty, don't expect the best but make sure they're reasonable.

But please make sure they have a business in your state. I think without any retailer in the state you live in, extended warranty company can't sell/service your car.

Anyway, I went with AUL. (www.aulcorp.com)
Attached is my brochure copy.

Looks good, last question, how much was it when you bought it, say 3yr/36K on top of original waranty. I know it may be different where I live but at least I have some figures to think about. TIA.

Let me get my paperwork later this week to see exactly how much I paid and coverage info. A few things I liked was:
1. It covers almost everything (including nag/audio etc)
2. It doesn't start until my new car warranty expires (so it's in reserve mode now)
3. I can either transfer to the new owner or get portion of money back when I sell it.

Thanks, isugoo for all the info. It sounds really good. I need to check whether this is acceptable in the East coast.

After just spending 4K on an out of warranty 330Ci, might not be a bad idea! Seriously thinking about it...
