I use photobucket.com for my picture hosting. One you upload your pictures, you use the image code for each one ... like this: and just copy and paste it into your post.

My Performance Pickup Experience

Picked my new 2011 X6 50i at the Performance Pickup Center in SC. The center is really beautiful, they have tons of rides of all makes. We had a group of about 8 folks mainly from the east coast, DC to Florida. 3 were picking up X's 1 X6 M, 1 X5 M and me with my lowly x6 50i. the other folks were picking up a 3er and 1er and maybe a 5er.

We met with a professional BMW driver who had a ton of driving history. races formula cars for BMW (currently and also is a counter terrorist driving instructor for BMW that trains US Secret Service and various others. His driving was amazing, just amazing. I can't remember his name ATM. He drove a 5M sedan to the limit, which was so fun. He took us all for a few hot laps with him while he drove. WOW!!
then the three of us who were picking up the X's took the X5 M and X6 M took to the track. I was so impressed with the raw power and handling. The instructor demonstrated the DSC system by driving a M5 sedan at high speed thru the slick wet part of the course to demo 360 slides with DSC off, then showed how the DCS system works by engaging brakes at with milisecond intervals and voila no skidding. we all took turns trying that.
the X's then did a cool off road course which was wild. I really thought my X5 30d was going to rollover at a few sections. the vehicles all had moto handheld walkies so we could hear his insturctions.
Lunch is served in a really nice cafeteria with many options.
The best part imo, was the manufacturing tour. 3.5 millions Sq Feet that produce 600 X vehicles per day. 70% go out of the US. Fully robotic lines. lots of people busy building cars. no cameras or cellphones were allowed inside, they made a big deal about this point, so no pics only memories. but was really really cool.

Great pics. Your car looks great. I think those are new rims for 2011 models. I loved it. I can't wait to pick mine up next week. I have the same color, however it's a 35i. I wonder which rims will come on it.

Question Oh also....

How is the 8-speed auto?
How are the shifts? Smooth?
I did not notice any changes to the look (exterior or interior) did you? Anything new?

Great Scott!

Thanks Batke, so it's the same as last year. It looks that the only change was for the 50i.

I am pretty sure the 2011 35i 20" sport wheel is still the Y-Spoke 214.

I remembered something from the manufacturing tour...

There are approx 8000 pieces/components that make up a X6. For 2011 4000 of those pieces are new to 2011. Doesn't seem possible but...

Great Scott!
8 spd is silky smooth. I didn't notice any changes to look. 2 minor annoying things I've discovered. no sunglass holder, never bothered to check before. also on the nav screen at night is does not switch to night mode, have to do it manually. I have used a preset to switch day/night mode to nav screen. seems like a strange overlooked item. already did my first mod, switched out the orange side markers to the clear Euro type. very easy

Congrats man...I hope you enjoy your new ride. About the new wheels, they look sweet !! I did not expect them to look this good on the X6. I'm already considering them along with the performance package.

BTW, your X6 specs and color exactly same as mine, except I have Oyster as interior color.

Talking Bad A$$!

Scott - This is my first post ever to a forum, but I had to say thanks for keeping us all in the loop on your purchase. Watching your progress made time go faster for me

Ordered a 2011 X6 5.0i
Alpine White
Oyster Interior
And all the fun toys for the inside ;-)

I was curious how the wheels would look on the X6 and I am SO GLAD I went with them. They make the beast ever that much sexier! You have to be a very happy owner right now. My build is expected to start next week and I am crossing my fingers for delivery the week after. Traded in my '09 X5 for this so hope I like it even better!

Thanks again for your posts and the great pictures. Enjoy!!

Jeremy,

If you don't mind saying, what date was your order placed for your new X6? Did you get confirmation that you X6 will be in production next week?

I ask because I ordered my new 2011 X6 5.0 on 4/03/2010, which was a modification of a car that my dealer had on order (we were able to make adjustments even though it was in 112 status). I spoke with Customer Service earlier this week and I was told that my X6 is scheduled for production but no actual production date.

I would debadge the emblem on the side. Anyone else agree that the new side markings on Bimmers are bit tacky?
Sick ride BTW, Tint that biotch and debadge.
When I see a well executed X6 on the road I am amazed at how Sweet they are...especially compared to "Normal" ones

Tinted this morning with Huper 30% and installed Euro side markers. not sure about the debadging.

LCann - Wishfull thinking really. He said it was confirmed for a week 18 build (May 2-9) but no exact date. So, you and I are in the same boat it seems. I guess I am hoping that my dealer is right on the week. :-) If/When I get a build date, I will reply back so that we can build anticipation together. If you get a build date before me, be sure to let me know so that I can call to replace your build... err... congratulate you! HA!

I just put in my order though on April 22nd so you have a much better shot at an early build date. I wonder if they do all X6 one week and then X5 or if they build mixed on the line... would be good to know.
