150 is doable at a couple tracks I frequent. My guess is yours was accomplished on a public road. Yikes.

I was wondering how the X5M would do on the track. Thanks for sharing your experience P6. This thread has convinced me to do one of my track days with it.
My track is CTMP (AKA Mosport) http://canadiantiremotorsportpark.com/

P6, love the track video! Outside of Denver we have High Plains Raceway; I never got a chance to take our Cayenne out there (just my G8 GXP) but am aiming to go out this year with my -V and hopefully an X5M if I can find one this spring. Everyone knows the axiom about it being more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow - I figure the same principle applies to driving a big car fast. No reason these things can't be out on a track so long as you're prepared for the consumables cost.

On the subject of tracking these cars, do any of you drag race them? I realize that's the knuckledragging equivalent of track time to most of you, but we do "Club Clash" racing at Bandimere Speedway (5800 ft. above sea level - yay slow cars) with friends once a month in the summer on Friday nights and it's a blast. I'm very interested to see slips if anyone has them, as I'm also hoping to either find an M with a tune on it, or do it myself, and get it into the 12s.

High Plains is on my list of tracks that are within my acceptable range from Dallas. It's a haul but I'd like to visit that track some day. What about Pueblo Motorsports Park? Is that worth the drive from Dallas?

The X5M on track is pretty rewarding because it will perform better than anyone expects. You should be able to keep up with most cars in your run group. To your point it's just a big car. It's not going to rollover and burst into flames. And as long as you understand it will chew tires, eat pads and gulp gas, go have fun.

FYI - Carbotech will make custom pads in any of their formulations for the same price as OEM pads. All they need is some backing plates. So If you have a set of worn pads, they will remove the remaining OEM materials and make a new set. And if you don't have a set of worn OEM pads, which most won't, you can buy a cheap set of Centric posi-quiet pads (F and R) for about $100 shipped. They can use those backing plates. I was considering XP10 front and XP8 rear. Similar to what I run on my miata.

I have seen several threads on people who drag their X5M. I think it's extremely capable in a straight line also. Maybe more so than on a road course.

Truck drivers get no respect. Short clip on track stuck behind a train. I skipped the first two laps of frustration.
