You need to change your expectations of your warranty coverage - if it is something that is covered in your contract, you should be covered, plain and simple. If they give you a hassle get serious with them. They don't get to decide what they want to pay for. They play the numbers game at a top-of-the-house level, meaning yes some cars they cover cost them way more than they get from premiums, but on the whole they cover more cars that don't cost them more, that is how they stay in business.

Other than that, hope BMW solves if for you. See what the total diagnosis is before you make any decisions. GL!
And report back here, we're interested to see what all this is caused by.

If it's water damage, it usually isn't covered as seals are "wear items", and the resulting damage from stuff that isn't covered, isn't covered. Said so in my BMW extended warranty details -- which is a joke, but that's another discussion. Auto insurance is an interesting angle that I didn't think of at the time.

I had a cracked seal in my hatch -- the rubber tube near the hinge that feeds wires into the hatch. After a heavy rain, water got into it and fried multiple electronic modules. Replaced everything ($1500) and to this day the 4x4 malfunction still pops up once in awhile.

Easy way to check if your issue is similar is by looking in the battery compartment. If the floor is wet, there's your issue.

Stealership said the whole hatch seal needed to be replaced. Got a second opinion at my indie and they correctly identified the little tube. $30 part + $1000 labor. Stealership got it wrong and would have cost me much more.

Could be a low battery. I had something similar happen before. Required new battery and reprogramming. Possible water issue as well...even from rear hood seal

If it's not water damage I'd be suspecting the battery and/or charging system as its common to have multiple warning lights when either of these are faulty.....and I know this from experience...lol.

I had similar issue a couple years back with my 335, replaced the battery and everything is perfect. I bought a trickle charger and i made it a habbit to charge now both batteries in my 335 and x5m every couple of weeks.

Agreeing with several others and adding on another tidbit.

Step 1:. Battery condition needs to be reviewed.
Step 2:. Check the fuses in the hatch. One by one make sure they're all live.
Step 3:. Code scan it deeply. Look at each code for the likelihood of being the cause.
Step 4:. If you have comfort access - check functionality of each door handle.

From my experience two days ago; comfort access handle failure drove a blown fuse which drove all the audio system to hang which then drove far enough that the X actually stalled with DSC and AWD warnings.

It is insane that a door handle could cause all that, but I swapped it and changed the fuse... As soon as I did it returned full working order.

(Until 3 hours later when the LPFP finally decided it had enough of pushing E30 to the front.)

Sounds like your battery is dead. ESPECIALLY since you rarely drive the car.
