exhaust fluid refill

hi guys,

does anyone know what the capacity is of the passive and active exhaust fluid tanks?

i just got the warning light, about 1300km left to go.

bmw has the 1.5 litre bottle with the screw top or the 9.46 litre but without screw top, but much much cheaper.

is the big jug easy to fill like the 1.5 litre bottle?

A full active tank will have enough DEF for approximately 3,000 miles of driving.

GOOGLE IT man. I have a 3.5i and never heard of exhaust fluid. Sounds like a prank(blinker fluid) but I guess it's only for Diesel motors. Hope that link helps u

The E70's passive tank is 16.5L and the active tank is 6.4L

BTW just a heads up, only refill the DEF through the passive tank and let the car filter the DEF through the system.

I just did this on my car recently and I refilled both tanks and after about 5 minutes of driving, CEL turned on. $150 and a sensor replaced everything is good now.

So my advice only fill the passive tank and let the car move to fluid over to the active tank. Hope that helps.
