Velos Tune issue - Not a valid FPF file error

Trying to get the stock tune back on my X5m for smog - man I should have went with JB4. But nonetheless, while trying to upload my stock file to the Genius tuner, I am getting a This is not a valid FPF file. Unable to decrypt buffer (1) 705 error. This is the exact file I both downloaded from my X5 and used the one I sent to them for tuning. Now, it does read the tuned file, and only tells me it is the same that is on the unit. I emailed Omar and waiting for a response, but curious if anyone has run in to the similar?

Wanting to smog tomorrow AM.

Even if you get it loaded you'll have to drive a bit before the monitors are ready.

I'm fully aware of that, that is no issue. I have the monitor readiness procedures down, been down this road too many times. I'm thinking I have to RESET the Genius unit.

Could you share the readiness procedure?

I'm trying to get mine to finish up and want to make sure I'm hitting all the checks.

As an update, the original file is already on the tuner, along with the mod'd file. Thus the error I was receiving. Flashed it, drove around for 20 minutes under 2 drive cycles, all monitors went into ready, and I passed the next day.

One thing I noticed, no more O2 sensor aging errors, which I received when the tune was on the car, regardless of cats or downpipes.

What is the procedure you used to set the monitors?

Official one is below (attached). Different than what I use. In California, one not ready is acceptable, may not apply to all states.

From a cold car, I start the X5, let it idle for 5 minutes, then go for a drive, keeping it under 3500rpm and under 50mph for 15 minutes. A lot of stop and go.

I then come to stop, put it in Park, then sit an addition 5 minutes.

Then I go on the freeway and drive normally. I always exceed 60mph - contrary to what is listed below. People will throw bricks at you in California for not driving over 75mph on the freeway. Then I let it rest for 10-12hrs, engine cold, then repeat. This works for me with an F30, E70, E53, even my E55.

If you live in a state that does not allow for any Not Ready codes, I would stick with the official drive cycle. BTW, the official one did not always work for me.

Yea I've been trying that one and can't get catalyst and o2 monitoring to set. Everything else is in ready. Just need those two.

My state requires all to be in ready.
