Subframe Bushing Replacement - Poly or Rubber
I’m in the final stages of what has essentially become a restoration job on my 2013 328i Xdrive, and now working on the rear suspension. I have the rear subframe dropped, and will be replacing the subframe and differential mount bushings.
This car will never see the track, it’s my daily driver. I want to minimize any NVH where possible, but would like to improve the handling characteristics. I’ve replaced the rear trailing arms with OEM lemforder, but have upgraded the sway bar to Eibach, and paired with Eibach Pro springs and Koni Special Active shocks. I’m considering going with poly 95a AKG subframe bushings, and sticking with stock rubber diff bushings. Will the poly bushings in the subframe alone add much NVH, and is it advisable to mismatch the subframe and diff bushings? Or should I go with stock rubber all around if this car is dedicated to the street? Appreciate any recommendations. |

I researched and deliberated this for ages with my F31.
The car was already running Ohlins Road & Track, Eiback ARBs, camber plates, poly in the LCAs, and monoballs in the wishbones. I opted for Whiteline bushes for the subframe and diff and am very pleased with them. The subframe bushes have made a significant improvement to controlling the rear of the car, especially reducing the roll of the chassis relative to the subframe. The effect of the diff bushes is less obvious. The F3X is not a quiet car but I haven’t noticed any increase in NVH.
