Ordered H&R lowering springs 1.2inch
After lurking many threads and photos I finally decided to pull the trigger and drop my 2011 35d. Tirerack had the cheapest price + free shipping so I went with them.
My X5 doesn't have self leveling so I purchased 4 springs. I found a local mechanic that will install them plus do an alignment for $400. I spent a lot of time calling different shops and it seems like $500 is the labor fee for this job. That wasn't including an alignment. So when I got that quote I was pretty happy. I went with 1.2 in the front and rear. Really excited to see the final results. I recently put 21' OEM 215's on so with the drop it should look awesome. I read that with the bigger engines (V-8, diesel) the drop is actually 1.75in instead of the 1.25. Anything else I need to know from people who have done this? |

Nope you're good. I recently did this on my X5M and love it.
I prefer the ride on clean roads and turning quickly etc bumps are a little harsher tho. Love the look which was the main reason why I did it. |

Looks so much better. I never thought I would lower my X5 but after seeing pics of others doing it I had to join the crowd. Plus the wheel gap with 20 or 21" wheels is a bit much. Now the X5 looks much more aggressive and sleek. Not to mention improved ride quality over OEM springs.

Mine was pretty decent actually. I called around several shops and many quoted me close to $1000 Canadian.
Ended up at a shop who did it all in for $620. Which was substantially lower than other quotes and even his earlier quote of $800 plus so I was happy. |

Most of the shops I called wanted over $500 for just labor alone. I knew I could find a cheaper quote so I called around and found one for $400 out the door with alignment.

OP-Definitely upload pictures of how it turns out for sure, I've been contemplating on doing the drop but I'm leaning more towards doing so because I can't stand the wheel gap it shows now
