Can you add the SPORT Gear Selector on Standard 2008 X5?
Good day everyone, may I first thank you all for your time and efforts at sharing your ideas on here, it's really great seeing creative people.
I would like to know if anyone has tried to incorporate the SPORT Button functionality on the Gear Selector to their standard X5 which did not have that originally. See a youtube of what someone did on the E90 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooKbKNG7ddM and I was wondering if a similar update could be made on a 2008 X5. 2008 X5 with the following - 3.0Si - Cold Weather/ Technololgy package - Heated Steering - Dynamic Leveling - Rear Air suspension - 3rd Row Seats The goal is ONLY to achieve the rapid throttle response that is provided by the Sport Mode function. Please note, as you could observe from the pics below, that this function is available on some models with other enhanced hardware such as dynamic suspension, Steering, etc. I know you could shift the gear lever to the left, to select the DS mode and I use this quite a lot but I will like to also have the SPORT Button working; if possible. This stems from an interesting experience I had driving one that is equipped with it. I have already installed this Gear Selector unit thinking it was going to be plug-n-play but the SPORT mode does not come on so I am wondering if anyone knows what to do about it. I also have called and spoken with a SA and he didn't think it was possible. Will appreciate any ideas Best Regards. |

You may be able to do this with coding, but I am not sure what modules will need to be coded.
