Thinking of changing from a 50i to X6M
I have a 50i and considering changing to an X6M. Does anyone have a direct experience of both and whether the change is worth it? For example, is the X6M engine note much louder than the 50i? Is the 0-60 acceleration difference that noticeable?
I fear I will change to the X6M and not notice much difference to the 50i. Thanks in advance. |

I can only comment on the sound since I've only sat in an M and the dealer started it up without revving. I found the 50i kinda quiet for a V8, but the M, my god it's loud, and deep (the engine was only sitting on idle btw). On the sound front, I doubt the M would ever disappoint.

I went to the BMW dealer to buy an X5 5.0, but what they had was right off the truck and would not be ready to test drive until the following day. But they did have an X5 M new on the lot and I figured I would give it a test drive.
I loved it right away but did not think it was worth the extra cash, so I did the deal on the 5.0 without driving it thinking it could not be that different. The next day I get to the dealer to pick up the 5.0 and asked if I could test drive it before I finalized the deal. 5 minutes into the test drive I returned to the dealer and bought the M, it is that much better. I even like it more than the 08 M3 I traded in. The M is that good and makes no sense that a car this big and heavy can do the things it does.....It is MONSTER. If you have the $$$$ the M is worth every penny. This is now my favorite DD and am now looking for a real weekend car either an F360 Scud or F430.......Steve

We all have our dream cars....CGT, ENZO, Ford GT(affordable at least), 599 GTO.......the list goes on.
If I went with a P-Car, it would have to be the new GT3-RS it just is so freaking cool...I would just remove the graphics to be more low key ......Steve

I am thinking 150-200K. But still have some saving to do and remanaging my investments back up from the crash. So I am a year or so out from being ready but I am doing all the research I can to be ready. And with the X5 M as my DD I really am having fun, since it does so many things so darn well .....Steve
