stick with '10 or wait for '11 x5m

Hi guys,

I just ordered an x5m last week without realizing the '11 production starts in March. Im supposed to be taking delivery in the last week of Feb or first week of March (as per the CA).

So, I just wanted to ask you, would you cancel the order and wait a bit longer considering there is a cycle refresh looming? Or would you just take delivery and forget about the new harddrive navi and LED tail lights that I am assuming will come a month after I get the car?

thanks for your opinions!

I just ordered one too. I would have driven one out of any dealer if they have the color combination i want. Forget about the led lights or whatever they put on the '11.... We got the FIRST model of X5M. ))

That's certainly one way of looking at it. I suppose the only thing that couldnt be taken care of aftermarket would be the harddrive based navi, but I dont even really know what the hell that is anyway so...

It's cool to get the first model, but I would recommend to wait and get 2011 model. BMW should fix whatever issues they have with 2010s.

I got first year 2008 M3 and had to lemon it because of all the problems it had.

So, I suggest to wait.

After pouring over 4 Forum Sites often 3 times a day for the last 4 months I would say that the 2010 X5M has no more or less problems than the 2010 X5.
The 2008 M3 had a more of a radical change (transmission?) going on if I remember correctly.

my 2010 X5 35d has been flawless - but I am sure it is not as complex as the X5M

I personally like to wait a model year. Gives the manufacturer time to work out bugs.

Wait

Unless you're getting a substantial discount, I'd wait. Your car will be 2 months old and valued as if it's a year old as soon as the newer model comes out.

Garage List
The 2010 already has the latest iDrive - hard drive based. Other than that - the only changes I can find are the tail-lights and the new side view camera option with the driver's assistance package. As far as I can tell - no issues with the 2010 X5M - mine has been just as good as my 2009 X5 4.8 was. It is only another month or so if you can wait, I decided it was not necessary and took delivery a few weeks ago. The LCI is more of an issue over the regular X5's - a no brainer if you were looking in that direction. The 4.8 and 3.5 motors are being updated, as well as more noticeable cosmetic changes.
