iPhone Connection

I have a 2009 x5 M Sport with iDrive/Nav. I tried to connect my iphone to play through my speakers and no luck. I connected to the port in the center console and then to the headphone jack on the iPhone (not the bottom connectin for charging, etc.) I selected AUX on screen and nothing. I do not get an "AUX In" selection option per the manual on p. 200; only Aux.

1. Am I connecting to the right spot on the phone?

Anything else I should try?

I know this should be easy but not my cup of tea. thx.

Does your AUX in have two options?

one for USB and the other for the Din connector?

No, only the Din connection; no USB. Again, different than what I am seeing in the manual which shows them side by side in the center console. And I only have "Aux" as a selection on screen; no "Aux in" or "USB" as described in the manual

It should work. Make sure the Iphone volume is all the way up and use the stereo volume for sound control.

Bought a new cable from best buy and it worked. Can't explain it other than the cable I was using was pretty old; past that, no clue.

Thanks for the replies.
