Multi-contour seats and nappa leather dashboard

Hi there. I have a 2011 X3 xDrive35i and I\'m curious about the X5. I feel gypped because I could not get multi-contour seats or a nappa leather wrapped dashboard. I know most X3 owners wouldn\'t opt for these, but I would have liked them had the X5 not been so large, especially coming from an E60 535xi Wagon which had the comfort seats; that car was so comfortable.

How many of you ordered either one of those options, and what engine did you opt for?

A little off topic, but the X5 is closer to your old E60 5 series, at least width wise, than the X3. Ive been in the new F25 X3 and it definitely feels like a taller 3 series.

You'd actually be surprised. The X3 is wider (both interior and exterior) than my old E60. The short wheelbase does sacrifice some ride comfort. I'm disappointed because the old X3 offered a downmarket version of the multi-contour seats, but this one does not. I'm unhappy BMW felt the need to separate from the X5 so much with the X3. There will always be a huge market for the X5 because of utility and prestige, no matter how nice the X3 is inside.

I recently took delivery of an X535i sport and opted for the multi countoured seats with the full Nappa leather interior. I feel bad telling you that the interior of the vehicle is completely transformed with the Nappa leather and comfort seats.

BMW put the Nappa leather EVERYWHERE, and the comfort seats are really very nice. I do wish I could have had ventilated seats with the nappa. Mine is black on black with the dark bamboo wood trim, and I really like the black headliner that comes with the sport.

They did slip up and trim the entire steering wheel with the pebbly grained Nevada leather. Not sure what they were thinking, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. As hard as I tryed to get everything right with my order, I never thought they would mis-match the leather on the steering wheel.

I should note that adding these options drove the price of the vehicle up substantially.

I'm sure it is. I'm glad you're happy with your choices, as am I, but I gripe only because I wish I could have gotten more. I was willing to spend more, but it wasn't available.

At least you got what you paid for, right?

I too have full nappa with multi contour seats (blk on blk w bamboo) on my 50i.

I love the way it looks and feels. Quite an upgrade over the Nevada in my opinion.

Too bad about the steering wheel. I knew it was coming this way and almost went for the M-Sport to get the smooth sport wheel but just didn't like the exterior look enough.

I have the Beige Nappa interior with the M Sport wheel. I always get compliments on how nice it is.

I'm rather jealous of you right now.

Hey, do any of you think I could get someone to wrap me in nappa leather with contrast stitching?

I'm just curious as to how the leather on the dash holds up with the sun beating on it? I live in the south so our summers are 90's low 100's. I didn't get the full leather because my SA told me he's seen fading and cracking with it. I just didn't want to spend the extra cash and have to forever soak my dash with conditioner and hope that the sun doesn't dry it out. I do love my multi contour seats. They're are a lot larger than the sport seats. I'm sure that's why they're not offered for the X3. The underneath of my seats are loaded with motors and wires. Plus its seems to be a little wider than the sports.

I just picked up an X5M with full Merino Leather last month. The full leather is still available.

After 52,000 miles and only 30 months the leather dash on my M5 was shrinking to the point that you could see the backing material around the defrost vents and the HUD. BMW covered the replacement of the entire dash($7000 just for parts). For this reason I opted not to get the full leather in my X5. I do wish that I had the Alcantera head liner in the X5 though.

I have a 2013 X5 and got the multi-contoured seats, but ventilated, so no nappa leather. I didn't get the nappa dash and wouldn't opt for that option.

I went with the 35i sports activity model with the wider tires. I drove a 50i and, while it had more top end power, it also had more turbo lag and I didn't want to spend the extra money for the larger engine when the 35i has all the power I need in an SUV. I don't care for the way the X5M looks either, but I love my e46 M3

I dont believe the X5 is that much larger than the X3, and after having an X5-35i for a loaner, I can assure you I would never buy one after owning my X5M- The difference is that great. The ride, handling, comfort not to mention the power and looks- only the X5 50 M sport would be comparable in looks, the rest are just too plain. The leather dash looks so much nicer than the plastic as well.
