What's your MPG?

Not sure if many of you are interested in MPG, but I thought we could learn from each others driving habits and see what is the normal range for our cars/sav or whatever we call them.

I have a 2010 X6M with 2800 miles and have been averaging 15mpg in city driving. No highway at all. I have a lead foot but not all the time. I am happy with this efficiency. I have expecting lower. I have seen 18 mpg with mixed driving with more highway driving at 75 miles per hour.

I don't have an X6 M but if you're getting 15 in the city I think you are doing better than anyone with even a standard 50i. I might get 13 in the city if I keep my foot out of it and don't put the trans in sport mode.

Agreed. The OP needs to measure mileage by gallons divided into miles driven. With pure city driving 15MPG seems unrealistic.

I have 8000 km on my x6m with about 60% of those being from city driving. I don't drive like a maniac at all and have an average of 12.8 MPG.

When I first got the car I was around 10 MPG

I will use actual math rather than believing the on-board computer next tank. It will be interesting if there is much of a difference. Will let you know...

City

I'm getting average 15 to 16.5 mpg. I have only 809 miles on it 2011 35i I was told that would get better as I drive it.

I wouldnt worry about this too much
Computer is not that far off, normally within 1mpg difference
It actually gets closer to real (self calculated) results as you drive less aggressive
So, the more you push the car the bigger the difference between self and computer calculated MPG
This has been noted on many bimmers (my calculations included)

P.S. It has to do with your average speed in a city a lot
I barelly was getting 13-15mpg on my 335i in NYC, where traffic light is every few feet
So, more like standing than driving

OK I just divided the gallons used to refill the tank by the miles driven and it showed 16.06 MPG. The X6M computer showed 15.3 MPG. I contribute the difference in the "topping off" amount of fuel between the two fill ups. I think it is safe to say the computer is pretty accurate and I'm pretty happy with this in all city driving with 555hp. It has 3000 miles on it now.

I have a total computer average over 14,000 miles of 24mpg. That's city/highway 50%. If I reset the trip computer on the highway, I get 30 mpg static cruise no hills no winds. I love this thing. Oh, and by the way, it comes with 425 foot lbs torque. 35d
