Key? You mean like the integrated key that you pull out of the fob? BTW, since you left no model/model year info...I used a 2012 X5 35d to pull up the key diagram...so if your fob is different...then pull up the diagram based on your VIN to see what the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr is.

If you need #2 in the diagram below...just go to your local BMW dealership and have your VIN and proof of ownership...order a new key and it will come back in a few days already cut to work in your vehicle:

Any locksmiths that will work on German vehicles or GM vehicle since they have the similar cut pad in which is the laser cut pattern instead of the old style key which is just like your house key that's from Toyota Hondas are other brands so basically you're paying for key and also the labor to cut a key . Sync other people suggest post to go to BMW dealer get one I sync that may be more expensive than the key but not necessary Wes the labor

Make sure they are only quoting you the cost of #2. If nothing is wrong with #1...make it clear to them that you are only asking about item #2. In fact, I'd go to one of the online part databases and input your VIN, then find the correct 11 digit BMW part nbr for your vehicle...then ask them to give you a price quote for that BMW part nbr (in case they are confused as to what you're asking for and quote you the price of #1 & #2....or #1).

You didn't mention if you have another key (that has a physical key blade)...which is why I suggested the dealership's parts department route. But with a physical "working key and a blank key with the correct key blade...a professional locksmiths/keysmiths with the correct equipment could laser-cut the blank key for you...but you wrote that you couldn't find any local lock/key smiths
