You have to be cautious, but nowhere near how bad the ride my 20's on my m5 was. The wider (295's in front 335's rear) tires really help dealing with potholes, and terrible roads. Its do-able.

the e70s look so good with 22s, but im so hesitant to get em. my car is also a family hauler, (mostly older adults) so swerving like i was in my old 335 to avoid potholes sorta voids why i got a suv.....

some other nice looking wheels that are cheap:
the niche targa:

I like the Niche Targa! How much do those run?

Looking for the same setup - where did you pick up the rims and wheels and for how much?

Sylvan, curious what tires you are running on your oem 214 winter setup?

Anyone have experience with conti dws in 275/315 in the winter? How do they do?

I'm on 295/335 pirelli all seasons in this bad winter and have not had a single issue plowing through everything and stopping just fine. I'd imagine that setup would work excellent.

On the diesel I have nokian happilatta 275/40 all around and on my M I have Conti DWS 275/315. The traction with the nokians is far superior as you would expect from a dedicated winter tire. Next year I want 275/315 winters for my M we have had a horrible winter in Alberta this year December had record snow fall, January was super warm so we fought deep snow now we are dealing with icy roads. I get by but Friday on my aprox 120mile hi way drive I saw 4 vehicles in the ditch on their sides or roofs and 5 other accidents with 2 ambulances still on site. I did feel my "tail wag" a couple times with the DWS and I have never felt that with the Nokians. That being said DWS are great in the snow for an all season, our winters are about 6months long with more snow than most other places so 9 out of 10 people would be satisfied with DWS in the winter. I thought they were awesome until I got a set of studded Nokians for our diesel

(Edit I just got a smoking deal on some Toyo GO-2 winter tires in 274/315 20 so I will run them on my M next winter)

My M winter set up with DWS

The diesel with nokian 275/40 20 all around, the wheels are replica 20x9.5/20x10.5 so the 275mm fit pretty good all around

A typical winter road here...

I had an '07 4.8 back in '07 with the 214's and still love those wheels. Friend of mine just bought an '08. They are simply perfect on the E70 and I've yet to see anything I like even remotely close on that truck.

The 300m's do look damn good too though.

I've found my inspiration on this board for my summer setup, so I'm happy to share:
Wheels: Niche Targa M130 Matte Black Machined
Front: 20x10 ET40 Tires: 275/40
Back: 20x10,5 ET20 Tires 315/35

OP you could try these. VELOS new wheel. It's a custom 20. I lost almost 100lbs in unsprung weight with these wheels from the stock 20s

I knew this was coming. (Bad picture angle and not lowered)
What do you propose I should do without sacrificing too much comfort?

Not much you can do. I'd stay away from aftermarket wheels if I wasn't planning on lowering.
