Two random ?'s: Door locks and Messages
Hey Everyone,
Still getting to know my E70 a little bit. I had two questions that I figured you guys could answer pretty painlessly: 1) Sometimes I get out of my car and then go to grab something out of the back seat and the doors are automatically locked already. Is there a setting somewhere causing these to lock automatically? It's odd because sometimes it doesn't seem to be happening. 2) I played around with the text/email option today and can't get anything to show up in messages. Is there a way to set this up? The phone is paired via bluetooth and it's an iPhone 6 w/ Verizon service. Thanks! |

1) do you have the car set to lock all doors once you start driving? Do you have your "unlock" set to only drivers door.
If your remote is set to unlock driver, then the rear never unlocked. If your car is set to lock when driving, when you stop, shut off, and get out, only the drivers door would unlock and the rear would still be locked. 2) on your iPhone under the Bluetooth settings, there is a setting for "show notifications". Not sure what year your x5 is but text works but emails does not work on my 2012

text messaging works on my Android phone (GN4).
Since you have iphone 6, I would try to use the docking station if you have that option installed. It'll better integrate the office functions. anyways, b/c the idrive is a common interface across all LCI BMWs and nothing is unique about phone paring for the X5, you can address your question here where there are more members who can help you out on this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=27 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758527 I suspect you may have to update the idrive software for added BT features and fixes, most new features were for ConnectedDrive and iphones: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html

with your door lock, I think you're confusing your events. When you shutdown your car, when the driver exits, the driver unlocks his own door. But there is a setting where you can unlock all doors when you shut down (as I recall).
you might be confusing this event with when you park, you push the unlock button from inside and every door unlocks Finally, there's another event and option where, after you lock your doors, if you unlock your doors, but don't open your doors, the car will auto-lock all doors again in a few minutes. all these options are in the door lock settings menu. Read the manual.

Menu --> settings ---> door locks
The first item should be "Unlock Button: [Driver's Door][All Doors]. This controls what doors unlock when using comfort access or hitting the unlock button The 4th item is "Lock after start to drive". If this is checked, all doors will lock when you start driving. When you stop and get out, only your door will be unlocked. All others will be still locked

Thanks guys... I appreciate you all pointing out that I might have been thinking about this wrong. I was assuming the doors were locking automatically (which could be) but also they may never have unlocked in the first place. I need to check on it when I have a minute. Appreciate the help!
