Pano Roof Malfunction

Yesterday was beautiful out and I had my panoramic roof open. I went to close it and heard a popping sound, it closed ok. When I got back in the car and tried to open it again it would not open. It would begin to slide open but when it gets to a certain point it will automatically close. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

He said there was some problem with the part failing on the sunroof - don't know which but ig you are under warranty take it to the dealer.

Happened to my father's old E70, and mine had to go in for repairs totaling close to $4K right before I was out of factory warranty.

4K? Man I am glad I am still under Warranty. Goes into dealer Thursday.

Oh yes, that would have been one bill I wouldn't have wanted to pay myself. I know it was close to $4K since the dealer told me. Pretty expensive part of the car.

Just heard back from the dealer and the wind deflector popped out of place. They removed the deflector and replaced it with a new one and I am good to go. BMW of Silver Spring does everything right in my book no corners cut ever.

Glad to hear it's repaired and it happened while you were still under factory warranty.

Thanks for the tip on dealer location. We have three dealers close to me. Two are horrible for service and the third is not bad (Alexandria) which is where I normally go to.
