Question X5M hesitates when starting?!

I have a X5M from 2010, 18' miles. When starting the car it hesitates for 2-3 sec and then starts. Sometimes it starts as soon as I push the start button but most of the time it takes 2-3 sec for it to start.

What could this be? Any known issues on the X5M?

When up and running the cars goes with any problems. Just the start issue.

Thanks!

My educated guess from reading on this forum is injector issue.

Do a search for injectors or black soot and you should find quite a few threads describing long cranking at cold start.

2-3 seconds for start is normal. Longer than 5 is when you should suspect injector issues.

For me it was injectors. Cold starts were fine, but if the car sat for 2-4 hours, the start was horrible. It got progressively worse and I started getting smoke under very hard acceleration.

Finally brought it in and dealer said 3 injectors were faulty. CarMax warranty was going to cover the 3 injectors, but BMW replaced all 8 and plugs under goodwill. 2010 X5M w/ 52k miles.

This may sound off tangent, but I had a similar issue with my Diesel X5 a few weeks back. Anyway, the issue went away after I charged my battery. I understand that we are talking apples and oranges here, but check to make sure that your battery is charged up.

I used a Noco G7200, and it was amazing!

If I had to start somewhere, I would start by changing out the plugs and coils as well as cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor. If still an issue, then I would run back to back fill ups with techtron followed up by cleaning the throttle body out with some intake cleaner and a small, wire brush. I would then be doing a sea foam via the brake vacuum line smoke show. If still doing hesitation after start up? I dont know.... Maybe change out the MAF?
