19" wheels on X6M - clearance issues?

A good friend just bought a 2011 X6M which has 20" rims. Before he leaves the dealership, he's gonna install a set of winter wheels and tires and would rater drop it to 19" during winter for obvious reasons.

Are you guys aware if 19s can fit on the M ? I'm afraid there might be an issue with the front wheels not clearing the calipers...

What do you guys think?

yep, that's what I found out... but my guess*is that there's some aftermarket wheels that may fit as well...? Right?

We're looking at a set of 19" BMW replica wheels and I guess unless we try them on, we'll never know for sure if they do fit...

Tire rack sells a set of 19's for winter use that fit. Due to the size of the calipers, most 19's won't fit. Proceed at your own risk.

They wont fit, i tried to fit an old set of 19's from my former X6 30d and the calipers touch the inner side of the 19" wheels

I'm surprised there aren't more responses on this topic. Are there any non-BMW 19's that will fit on the M? I have a set of 19 TSW's that work perfectly on my 5.0, I guess I need to take them to the dealership and check on an M.

I have TSW Nurburgring RF's in a 19 for my snows and they fit with no issues at all. I needed hub rings, but that is not for clearance.

Thanks Spaceballs. I have the same rims. Do you know if all TSW Nurburgrings in a 19 are the same size?

Not sure what you mean by "the same size", but I ordered 9" wide fronts and 10.5" wide rears. I believe there are 3 different offsets available, but only the 20 front and 27 rear offsets will work on the M from their choices. I hope thats what you meant, if not, send me an email, as I dont go on here except from work.

I can see that there is plenty of clearance between the rim and caliper. I would not imagine that the thickness of the metal would be different, as they are rotary forged, which allows them to be thinner and stronger.
