X6 M already in production?

Didn't think it was coming out for a few months but just saw one in Meredith, NH (Lake Winnipesaukee area) yesterday and it had a NJ license plate and did not have a dealer tag. It was the red color that everyone has seen pictures of. The guy punched it out of the gas station and it sounded really good!

Didn't have a chance to talk to the guy or snap any camera pics

A good friend of mine works in the Media industry and he is sent a different car every week to review and write about the vehicle. Many of them have NJ license plates…
I ordered an X6M and was told that I am getting one of the first to arrive at the dealership.
I have a September build and they said I can expect delivery in October…
So I wonder if he works for BMW or either way someone driving the vehicle to give feedback…

What's a "press vehicle" ? up to now the media had been allowed access to all new unreleased X6's in a very controlled environment.

Well, this is going to get MORE expensive in a hurry:

The leather dash is not a separate option, you only get it if you option the Full Merino Leather package.

To get the Smartphone Integration you are forced to add the Premium Sound Package!

Also, I guess they are not making the M in the color I would have preferred, Deep Sea Blue. That really sucks because I love that color. I am not so sure I will like the Monte Carlo Blue Metallic color as much. I now may need to switch to Silverstone. I think it would have been easy for them to offer more color choices. I guess there is always the possibility of going the individual route. Guess that would cost more too.

Most manufactures have a number of press vehicles that are circulated around the U.S. that allow members of various media outlets to have a few extra days to experience each vehicle to perform a more detailed write up. For example when you read many magazine articles (MT, CD, ect..) they go to these mass media events (for example the BMW X6M event at road atlanta last month) they will say somewhere in the article "we cant wait to get our hands on one for a more detailed write up". They mean.. we get our very own vehicle to rip around town with for a few days :-)

my dealership in toronto is taking delivery of only one x6m this year by the end of august

Here in LA the dealer is expecting "demo" X6M and X5M along with the new 7 series with all wheel drive by the end of August or very early September. They said the marketing people want them to make a publicity splash about the new vehicles. They will be available for test drives. He also currently has no idea how many actual allotments they or any dealer will get at the moment.

We also get to pay 9.75% sales tax and 50% higher registration fee's thanks to California's numerous problems with the state government. The only good thing is that some of the tax money goes towards mass transit which must be expanded in this state.

My dealer just told me yesterday that they have 3 X6 M already built and sitting at the port right now waiting for BMW NA to release them. One is going to be their full time demo and the other two are pre-sold to customers.

RHD production starts in Sept. Not sure about LHD but I would assume the same?
