Exclamation BMW Brake Fluid

Hi all!

I just wanted to drop a quick question about my x5, the brake fluids are low and need topping up - can anyone tell me where the reservoir is? Or will I need to take it to the dealer? It's a XDRIVE 2009 3.0D

Thanks for anyone who contributes :-)

Always on the driver side, against the heat shield. Underneath the engine hood, you might have to remove some plastic to get to it. Always use BMW fluid.

When is the last time you had your brake fluid flush? If you get your brake fluid flush as required, every 2 years, you should never run low. Old brake fluid will have a lower boiling point, meaning it will boil/bubble up when your brakes are hot. Air will not work as well as fluid, so it could put you in a dangerous situation.

Thanks for the fast reply! I had a a attempt and had a check but it seems that the brake fluids weren't that empty! I topped it up anyway, but the BMW iDrive shows warning and still is red. Is this normal?
Again thanks for the help!

If you haven't taken it in for a flush in the past 2 years, it's the right time to do so. You might have a faulty sensor.
