Pulling inside door handle 3 times

Hello all.
I've searched the different forums but I havent found a post about this problem.
On the driver's door, is it normal that I have to pull the inside door handle 3 times to open the door?
1st pull unlocks the door (pin goes up)
2nd pull does nothing
3rd pull opens the door

No. In my E53 the cable seized and needed to be replaced. Actually in the end we had to replace the entire mechanism. It was cheap and simple. Looks like for you, its about that time. Sounds like after the first pull the cable is not retracting to this original position in time for the second pull.

This problem is on a 2011 X5.
Does the mechanism, to be changed, include the actuator or simply the cable?

You'll have to pull the paneling off. Then you can see exactly whats going on. We had the piece were the cable connected to crack so we had to replace both. If the door unlocks at the same time as the other 3 when using the lock unlock button then its not the actuator but likely the wire.

Problem got worse.
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and so on pulls didnt open the door.
I had to roll down the window and use the outside handle to get the door opened.

Taking mine into the dealership to have them look at my front pass door lock. Acting the same way but I have to hit the unlock even after it's been unlocked. Weird but hopefully the dealership can figure it out.

So, what was the dealer verdict?

Taking it in next week. The weird thing is that it's random so that'll probably make it more difficult for them to diagnose. I'll be sure to share what they find.
