No sound from media cradle (Snap-in adapter)

I just purchased the new snap-in adapter for the I phone 5. I have BMW Apps in my vehicle. When I connect the iphone to the BMW apps, the screen appears with all the connected apps. I have tried both Pandora and the music available on BMW apps and both have no sound. The screen will show what the album or music that is playing. But I have no sound. I had read about the usb port in the compartment having something plugged into that and you would not get sound from the cradle. But I do not have anything plugged into the usb port. Is there any other way to check and determine if IO have a bad cradle or need to do something on the iphone to get the sound to work.
Vehicle: 2013 BMW X5M

I also wanted to add that when I plug my I phone into the usb connector, Pandora will play and I hear the music.

Which part number did you get?

84212351307 is the non media adapter and does not support Audio or Apps integration.

I don’t see the Media adapter for a 5/5s available on the website.

I got the 84-21-2-351-308
Also, the phone works for getting incoming and outgoing calls.
I just can't listen to Pandora or the bmw apps radio.
Very frustrating.
