X6 3.5 hesitation

Anyone else notice a hesitation when accelerating from a stop? Actually more like a delay actually even if you floor it.

It has absolutely NOTHING to do with turbo lag. It is either the 8 speed trans or the programming of the trans. Car & Driver actually proved that on the X3, there is a 1/2 second delay between pressing the gas and the car going. Short of the horrific drag the X5/X6 have when slowing down (efficient dynamics at work), the inability for the car to take off smoothly is the worst part of this vehicle. You either go like a turtle or snap your neck - there is nothing in-between. I wish BMW would address both of these issues.

Hmmm...wonder if any software out there can address this? Actually it is pretty dangerous especially when trying to merge quickly...

Ours has the same hesitation- I'll check into having the dealer reprogram it. Having owned turbo cars in the past I can say with no doubt that they delay is definitely not turbo lag.

Dinan fixed things

I got the Stage 2 Dinan upgrade on my 50i and it is absolutely amazing - lag down to almost nothing.

Hey Kanuc,

Is that in sport or drive or both? I got the stage 2 on my 35i, and the lag is pretty much nonexistent for sport mode, but in drive it can get bogged down if I take my foot off the gas for some reason then push down again.

Well the dealer couldn't find anything wrong and didn't reprogram. Will need to look into Dinan...
