Yes, the o-ring is attached by silicone and it can be removed if needed, send me a PM if you have any questions, that will make things easier. Thanks

Removing the o-ring (which was held on by a couple of globs of clear silicone) is simple, but you need something to swap it with. Unless you can find an identically-sized but thinner gasket, you're gonna have to modify the gasket which is made of hard orange rubber.
BTW, if you install the LED unit without the o-ring it will jiggle loosely, rattle around, and will probably fall off or rotate out of alignment.

Maybe the X6M headlights are different from my 35i? It may fit better on your car and modification may not be necessary...

i posted some pics and explanation about what I did on last month's "angel eye" post. The backs of both hands were all hashed up and scabby from trying to tighten the bulbs with the stock ring.

I talked to LUX
He suggested to leave it rotated only as far as you can go by hand
That gives the brightest, most aligned install
This works for me
Quote:
They are actually designed not to twist in all the way. the LED line up correct when they are twisted in 1/4 of the way.

Yup I twisted it at around 15 degrees (45 degrees being maximum). I tested it without the orange rubber, and this angle does seem to be brightest for the outer ring.

Can you guys look into the "eye" and see the position of the LEDs relative to ring "recepticles"? Mine is lined up where the the space between the 2 LEDs of each pair are pointing towards the "recepticles". That is the farest I can twist with my hand and it seems to be pretty even between the rings.

Got my LUX

So i got my LEDs few days ago
Of course i had to pick the brightest, eye-blinding day of the month to install them.
Next day after hurricane Irene
Install went quick, 10min tops
I knew i should'nt be using all my guts and try twisting that bulb into place
So i just left it turned using moderate force of my hand

Hit the fob and she responded with beautiful bright white eyes
They look amazing!
I was honestly expecting a bit lesser results

Here are some pictures:
Not the best time to photoshot anything, when the sun is right above you
But it's good for testing

X5M's have the same headlight assembly as the X6, it is different than the standard X5. Thus the X5M has the old halogen angel eyes. That picture is from Bellevue BMW...

Just received my order of LUX H8 V3 for my 2011 X6. Is there a trick in removing the drivers side bulb? I have been trying for two days now to remove the drivers side bulb and it wont unscrew. I was able to unscrew the passenger side with no issues but the drivers side wont unscrew at all. Am I doing something wrong?

This is a bit weird
It's fairly easy regardless of the side
I changed both of mine in 5 min tops and there was no efort at all

Did you try twisting the bulb both directions?

You probably need to take one step further and try to force it a bit
Just be carefull if you use any tools
Wrap the bulb or the tool into something soft, or put padding so you dont crack anything
Try to apply force in very-very small increments (gradually) untill you're able to get it moved

Another option is possibly to spray something, like WD40?

WOW!!! The WD40 works!!! I had to let it sit overnight and then it just popped right out.
Not sure what was going on with the drivers side but once I had it out I was able to install the new ones in 5 minutes!
Looking really good!!

Thanks for all your help!
