I bought the LUX H8 V3 from these folks and they are better than any other solution I have tried.

Update: As someone gently reminded me ... I will post pics tonight when I get home.

LUX Pictures

The pictures are outside ( except for one in garage) drivers side has sun shining on it so gives you a good idea of what they look like during the day.

I also got mine installed.

But I am having a hard time "twisting" the bulbs in place.

After inserting the bulb, it should be twisted from 0 degrees to 45 degrees, but I can only turn up to around 10 degrees. Then the orange rubber makes it too tight to turn.

From one of the other posts, someone mentioned that they had to trim the orange rubber a little bit.

Did you have this problem?

Right now, I just left it positioned at 10 degrees.

I agree I torn up the top of my hands getting these installed, I think I have them in at about 15 degrees that's all I could turn them. It's something the LUX folks need to work on.

Someone here used channel lock to twist the bulb
Seems like it's very very tight fit, not like OEM

LUX, is it easy enough to swap the rubber seal?

I used a set of channel locks. They work, but you need to be really really careful.

I don't think I'm that confident that I would try the channel lock approach, my luck I would break them. Hopefully LUX can weigh in with some tips, I really like these but the installation is a challenge.

I tore up tops of both, as well as sides and both thumbs. lol, it was quite painful to twist the lux lights. I am not even sure I twisted them at all. I have cracked the hood to check the if they have popped out each time I return from driving. so far so good. I love the look of the lights but I have emailed LUX to say the O ring is the problem, way to thick. I have swapped the AE's between OEM, PIAA and another brand more time than I wish to admit and the LUX are by far the hardest to fit.

yup same as you swapped same brands , these are the best. Also like you trashed tops and sides of both hands. I think I have them twisted about 15° and check them every few rides. so far so good.

I tried to take out the rubber and test rotate the angles.
I think at around 10-20 degrees, the outer ring lights up the most.
So I am good with leaving it at 10-20 degrees.
You guys can do some testing and check which angle is brighter.

Will like to get a set for my 2011 X6 M. How long do you think it will take my mechanic to fit in? Don't want to be messing with my baby.

No more than 30 minutes..

I am not a mechanic, and it only took me 15 minutes.

Luckily the X5 and X6's have much more room to work in, so installing these will take 5-10 minutes

Hopefully you will create more lights for the X6, backups would be next on my list. normally ones too dim.

There is an overall consensus on this (and others) forum from those who tried LUX that it is the best choice hands down. There is only one other brand that is better --->BMW OEM LED.
