Thinking of buying a X5 35d...have questions

Hello everyone, i am looking to upgrade from our VW TDI sportwagon to a X5 35d. We need more room and power and want to do some towing. I would like to know if anyone does any towing and how they feel it does. I would like to tow my 1M to track events. Would this be to much for the X5d? How is the reliabilty? Are there any issues with the Diesel? What kind of MPG is everyone getting? What kind of MPG when towing?

Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks

There are some intermittent issues with some of the X5ds. Most of the fuel and urea issues have been addressed and improved since the 09 introduction. Many have no problems at all, mostly coding and CES issues from time to time. But reliability overall has improved greatly.
Towing should be no issue, the torque and tranny combo will do very well, and the 1m is not a problem. I will suggest the 3rd row option for the self leveling rear-end. Here is a link to one of the posters here towing, notice his rear suspension level.

BMW trailer wiring is not compatible with LED lights on a trailer. The trailer lights will pulse and flash.

Thanks for the reply. Those are some nice pics and that is one heck of a boat he is towing. I guess with 425tq it should not be an issue. I think BMW says the tow rating is 6000lbs.

So what kind of MPG do you get with yours?
