Any pics of rear mud flaps on X5M?
Thinking about installing rear mud flaps on my 2011 X5M. Been reading about the paint chip issue and thought these would help.
Has anyone installed these on their X5M? Would be curious to see any pics or advice on these. Thanks D |

They don't help, and look fugly. Anyone whom installed still had sandblasting on the rockers etc. Do the 3M and find some previous posts on best application and you should be ok.

Installing rear mud flaps only are not going to help you because its the front wheels that kick up much of the debris that is causing the paint chips that everyone is talking about. You will need to install front ones too. I have both 3M and mud flaps installed. I think the flaps help. My 3M still looks good so far. And I don't think they look bad but to each their own... (note: I have a black vehicle so the flaps don't stand out as much). I will try and take some pictures soon and post.

The mud flaps? They (front & rear) were purchased at bmwpartscenter.net. Its much cheaper there than the dealership. Make sure you order the correct part numbers for your vehicle (rear flaps models are different for M & M Sport).
Note/warning: Since your vehicle is not a M but an M Sport, the installation of your model specific REAR mud flap will require the cutting of the lower part of your bumper trim to accommodate installation. The X5M did not require any cutting. If you decide, never to take off the mud flap then this shouldn't be a problem but there were people who had this installation done not knowing the process involved were horrified to find this part cut when they decided to take off the rear mud flap. Read this thread... http://www.forums.bimmerfest.com/sho...d.php?t=465385 I confirmed this issue with the Installation.pdf instructions of the mudflaps. The guide contained installations for all X5 models. |

Thanks Cybervinn
I decided to go with the clear plastic on the front side of the rear wheel arch. The installer I went to says the chips come mainly from the front wheels that spray the rear wheel arch.
