Hidden radar detectors what's your opinion
I was wondering what folks experience has been with hidden radar detectors. I've only seen ones that go behind front grill but heard that they aren't that good, what do you think.
Pros Cons ... dirty remarks. |

It appears that he's some kind of "radar" tech. Look about halfway down his rather long web page and he has a two part escort 9500ci install and use review. http://www.radarroy.com/category/rad...dar-detectors/ |

I had a Escort built into my M5, and have also run the V1 for years. The Escort is superior for 2 big reasons: 1. It is always on and working...you don't have to reach in the glove compartment and hook it up...if you keep yours up, then this isn't an issue. 2. Laser Jamming. In my area Laser is everywhere, and having a V1 let you know that the cop on the side of road is about to give you a ticket isn't cool. I had the jammers save my ass a few times...there is nothing better than a cop watching you drive by when he got an error report on his machine for w few seconds, then he gets a number and it is the speed limit.
I have the new escort going in next week. If Valentine updated theirs and added jammers I would buy theirs, I do love the arrows.

i would run a 9500ci and a hardwired V1 with the volume turned all the way down for the arrows.
the 9500ci is known to have weak laser jammers so if you really wanted to go all out I would add a 4 head laser interceptor along with the 3 head 9500ci jammers. just make sure u dont mount anything behind a grille. ive done tons of research on this stuff so shoot me a PM if you have any questions. Radar Roy is great but you have to remember that hes not an independent tester. hes also a reseller, and doesnt carry Valentine because only Valentine does so I always take his reviews with a grain of salt.

I've heard of people getting pulled over when the Police radar or laser detector is malfunctioning or not giving a proper speed reading and the Officer searches the car to find a jammer.
I hear that if the Officer finds jamming equipment or equipment that has the capability to disrupt or give the Officers speed detector an improper, masked or false reading they can issue a heavy fine. Has anyone experienced this or know info about it. If I was the Officer trying to catch you on radar and you were obviously speeding and my detector wasnt acting right, I would pull you over anyways and search your car for probable cause. |

I'm curious if you feel that people should use radar detectors or jammers? Are you in law enforcement? |

If you get pulled over and the Officer asks you if you have a jammer and you tell him "No" and he finds one, then it goes from a simple speeding ticket, to obstructing justice and using electronic interference devices that are probably against FCC guidelines. My point is this, if you can put a jammer in your car and confidently know that if your car gets searched under suspicion of a jammer, that the officer wont be able to find it unless he takes your car to a garage and rips it apart then do it. I am advising against this if you are afraid of the possible consequences and dont want the reprocussions. All I am saying is that you are putting yourself into a sticky situation if the Officer directly asks you if you have a jammer, because if he finds one there will be severe consequences and you could actually lose your car in some states. You are putting yourself into a position where you might choose to lie to the Officer and it would not be worth that risk. |

The change was that I moved from Northern California down to a small Southern California town with extraordinarily low posted residential speed traps. Didn’t know that when I moved there, but while attending city council meetings it came out they were making up for budget deficits. Even though I normally have a lot of respect for law enforcement, I have to say our traffic cops are “very” aggressive. This approach angers me because of the negative impact to people’s lives first by fines, then by increasing insurance premiums. IMHO that is not the way communities should treat their citizens. I’m not sure if our cops use radar or lasers. I’ll need to verify what the laws are before making a move one way or the other. I’d be curious to find our exactly how the laws are written. |

Speed Judiciously
U 've 2 b prepared if u r are speeding along way out front of other vehicles or w/o wingman.
1st u can't jam ur brakes on because that's a sure sign ur speeding. 2nd u have 2 switch off jamming immediately, to allow police 2 take a 2nd reading @ a lowered speed. Otherwise they suspect jamming. & u can't mount the jammers front & center on ur bumper, (tho effective for detecting radar/lidar) but is obvious to the police & prone to parking damage. In conclusion: the police cannot be absolute with catching every speeder, neither can the speeder, armed with electronic countermeasures can evade speed enforcement 100 % absolutely w/ every encounter. Even the us navy's aegis system can be overwhelmed. Law of probability exists. Death & taxes r the only absolutes in this life! |
