Confirming 22" staggered offsets.

Let me know your thoughts. Using an offset calculator, comparing stock 20x10 and 20x11 to the following wheels.
22x9 and 22x11. Offsets on the 22's are +15 and +18 respectively. (Stock wheels are +40 and +35 (fronts and rears). Based on the calc I would stick out an additional 12 mm on the front and 17mm on the rears. I see a lot of you running 12 and 20mm spacers for a flush fitment.
Correct me anywhere I'm wrong. Thanks.

I think this setup would be a cost effective way to avoid going with custom forged wheels. I know forged are lighter and stronger, but I just finished "building" a GTR. I'm trying to stretch my dollar. Picking up a 2012 X6M this weekend.

Cheers.

Those offsets will defnitely work. You still won't be flush in the rears, but you'll be a far sight closer than OEM.

Why are you doing a 9" wheel on the front? What tires are you going to run? Have you determined that and that their circumference are within factory spec for a staggered setup? You should just do 10's in front unless you have a really good reason not to.

+1 Make sure to check the specs of the tires you are planning to get. Stated tire sizes are nominal, so you really need to look at the actual rolling diameter and revs per mile of each tire when going with a staggered setup. Tirerack usually has all this info readily available.

I'd prefer 10's, but haven't found a staggered set up with 10's in the front. Planning on running 295 and 335's. I'm aware they recommend a 10" wide wheel for a 295, but 295 will work on a 9" without sidewall bulge.
Has anyone run an 11 wide on the front? High offset?
I could run 11 wide +40 offset and be 13mm more "stick out".
22x11 all around. +18mm rears, +40mm fronts. 295 30 and 335 25

you have the right tire sizes in mind. Not sure what wheels you are looking at. Haven't seen one that has a 22 x11, but not a 22 x 10. Even a 22 x 9.5 would be better.

They make 22x9 in +15 and +38 and the 22x11 in +18 and +40

Unfortunately they don't offer anything in between on this particular wheel.

Personally, I would look for a different wheel. 10.5 inch wheel is ideal for the 295/30/22 front tire. A 9 would be beyond bulged.

I agree. I won't run the 9 up front. No comments regarding running 11" up front?

I'm a big fan of the staggered look myself, but it's your vehicle. I wouldn't put a 335 tire on the front. It is huge. Can't imagine it wouldn't rub.

I'll clarify. It was never my intention to put a 335 on the front. 22x11. Front and rear. 295 front. 335 rear.

Whatever works for you. You must really love those wheels to go through all this to make it work.

In the correct offset the 11" up front would work, I haven't thought about running it myself so I haven't done the math on it.

I just swapped the summer tires on my diesel I should have taken a rear and bolted it to the front just to see how it fit.

I'm currently struggling to locate 335 25 22. I'm going to try running 11 wide front and rear. 295 fronts, 335 rears.

Last I heard they are on back order in North America

FYI Tirerack confirmed they've received some 335 25 22's. Mine should arrive this week.

I'm assuming 265/295's? I couldn't allow myself to install a narrower tire than what it came with from the factory. You can put a 335 on an 11" wide, but 295 is def too wide for a 9".

That's definitely a choice wider tires do what for the SUV? I'm Running 295 in front and it gets caught in the grooves on our roads in Edmonton. And the ride is a bit rougher. Where the set up I did 265/315 the ride was amazing because I utilized a bit more sidewall. And does the rims look small no. They look big when I get to a computer I'll post the pictures

Straying from matched staggered setups for arbitrary reasons on an AWD vehicle is a very bad choice, IMHO.

A difference of only 0.25 - 0.50" in total rolling diameter can result in a 10-20 rev per mile difference, which will almost certainly shorten the life of your xDrive.

It's also good to keep in mind that tire sizing is nominal - IE a 275 Pirelli summer tire is not necessarily equal to a 275 Pirelli winter tire. You most definitely need to look at the total diameter or revs per mile when installing non-OE tires.

Word. Revolutions per mile is the best measure, followed by tire circumference. Diameter is the least informative number to compare, as an almost immeasurable difference in diameter becomes much more prominent and harmful over many revolutions. But diameter is still better than guess work or just making it up as you go along.
