2012 X6

Just got my 2012 X6 35i after trading in my 2008 X6 35i. Here are a few observations.

Pros:

1. The new engine and transmission combo is excellent. The car is much smoother and accelerates much faster than my 08.

2. The heads up display is really nice and cool looking.

3. The Premium sound system sounds great, its much better than the one in my 2008.

4. I-Drive is much better

5. The Navigation system is very nice, voice recognition works very well.

6. The rear view camera is very good. Its very clear unlike the camera in my 2008

7. The Bluetooth connects to the car almost instantly and the picture to a contact feature is cool.

8. BMW Office is nice

Cons:

1. BMW Office displays my messages and emails but has the wrong time and date next to them.

2. Ordered the Bold 9700 snap in adapter for my Sprint Blackberry Bold 9650 but it wont fit my phone, not sure if they make one that does fit my phone.

3. The car rides smoother but does not handle as well as my 2008.

4. Sometimes when I add new music to my iPod it does not display the album artwork.

Overall I love the car.

Hey, I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the 2012 X6. I am currently still in my 09 and was wondering what made you go for the trade up even though the only signifigant changes between the two different years is the idrive system. At least that is the only change I am aware of. You went from a 35i to a 35i... do you notice a difference in performance? I was planning to trade up to a 50i from my 35i once the X6 got a face lift but I notice alot of X6 drivers that had 2008s -2010s are trading up left and right. Are the dreals that good and should not be passed up...? let me know... i am in queens and maybe i could talk to the same salesman you spoke to if the deals are just that great...

Leases are up?

My 2012 is going back for a 2015 because I'll never own a BMW out of warranty again. Because of CPO-ability, trade-in amounts go Way down at 4 years, so it has to back at 3. Since I own mine, I won't have the 'your lease is up!' stick poking me in the eye, so I'll have to be sting because I love my car.

I hear that!! That is why I don't lease either. I love my car as well and the only cars that make me get a lil jealous is the X6 50i and the X6m... lol even though I own a tuned X6 35i and she looks good with all the cosmetic customizing did, when I see those models, i still drool. I really want to wait till the revamped version is released, but i dont want to miss out on a great opportunity if NOW is the time to trade up...

Have you, or anyone else, experienced that many street names are often not displayed?

For example, sometimes when I want to check what the next street name is, it just happens to be not showing on the map..

This never happens in Garmin or TomTom GPS.

Does it have LED halos now?

Yes!!! Send pics!! We all want to see if the halo lights got changed among other things. Take pics then show off your new toy

My 2012 does not have the LED halos. I agree with the above assessment (going form 2009 50i to 2012 50i. I like the 8 speed transmission better, iDrive is much improved. Have noticed a performance / handling difference, still awesome for its size.

Have the same issue with the artwork not always showing when I add a song, anyone found how to fix this? I have a 2012 model.
