2012 X5 35i Driver Mirror dips in Reverse

I have seen a few posts but seems to be contradicting information.

My 2012 X5 35i Sport was hit in the driver door while I was parked at work in March... I am still trying to battle with the body shop on a few issues.

One thing I liked about my Beast was that the driver mirror tilted which helped me park (because I am short and I am old school and I do not rely on the back up camera)

So are there X5's out there that DO have the driver side mirror tilt?
Is it a computer program thing???

Anyone have my year with tilting driver mirror in reverse?

I need some back up on this to take to the bodyshop and insurance co.

Thanks!!

Sounds like a coding (computer program) thing. I have not seen the option specifically but I imagine that the RHD models dip the left side mirror when reversing (your driver's side).

Did they replace the mirror? Are all the other mirror options functioning?

Does your passenger side mirror tilt in reverse?

Hey Jbash87

They didn't replace the mirror at first but they had to pull the whole door apart and put in a "new" door and then when I got my beast back the dip did not work on the driver side but works on the passenger side.

The driver side "functions" do work...so I can adjust it but just does not dip when I put in reverse.

I think it is a coding thing also and they may have messed up something when they "fixed" the door.

Did they say they recoded any of the modules? I'd be surprised if a body shop had the ability to do this. Not normally one of their core competencies.

I wouldn't say they "messed up". The driver's mirror doesn't dip on a LHD car. Your car now functions like normal.

How did you get the driver's mirror to dip on the first place? Did you buy it like that? Did both of your mirrors dip or was it just the driver's side?

Have you ever used NCSExpert?

I bought the car used in 2019. both sides dipped, which was great.

No, I have never heard of NCS Expert.

Both!? Wow interesting. This was most likely custom coded into the car by a PO... Maybe.

Can you confirm whether the shop replaced the mirror or not?
