Rear differential oil change

Guys,

Looking to change the fluid this coming week. Can someone confirm the rear plug/drain is this part # 33117525064?

From my research, looks like I need the following (2009 X5 X drive, 3.0):

Red Line 75W90 High Performance Gear oil (2 quarts).

33 NM torque

You'll only need about 1L. The fill from new is 1.2L and since we don't have drain plugs you'll have to extract it meaning you're not going to get it all out. Up to you though whether you want a 2nd bottle or not.

60Nm is the proper torque for the E70 rear diff plug.

Probably a late reply... But there is no need to replace the fill plug... I've changed my diff fluid 4 times since purchasing the truck 250k miles ago, just did it the 4th time this past weekend...

Highly recommend an Air driven Vacuum extractor to help drain the fluid completely... Harbor freight sells a nice one by Polk... Works great on the transfer case as well.

Not too late. I added the fill plugs to the cart but somehow got busy at work. I bought an extractor on Amazon. Will just pick up the oil this weekend.

Thanks,
TT
