So I have been getting this code on and off for the past 3 days. Currently CEL is on. Drives normal and idles normal to. Cannot find much online pertaining to this code. Anyone have any ideas what it could mean?

P-codes are pretty useless for BMWs. Get either INPA or ISTA, preferably both, and then run their diagnosis.

Any suggestions on which to purchase. Spending $400 plus on scan tools is a bit much since I only need it this one time. I've diagnosed other codes and fixed them with just the standard obd2 scanner from Amazon. Why so difficult to find what this code means?

Both INPA and ISTA are free. INPA can be downloaded from bimmergeeks, and ISTA is available if you search a bit. You will need a good OBD to USB cable though. Typically around $40

I have Pro-Tool, Bimmercode, and bimmerlink all connected using obd2 via Bluetooth doggle. Will any of these generate codes?
