New to the forum! Black Plasti Dipped wheels!!

Just wanted to post a photo of my wife's 2009 E70 X5. Traded in her old 2002 X5 for this one as her old one was starting to become a money pit. Just Plasti dipped her OEM rims in black. I think it looks alot better than silver, especially on a white car!

Looks good. Is it hard to clean the brake dust off? I always wondered how durable the Plasti dip would hold up on the wheels.

Nope, in fact it hides most of the normal brake dust that would usually drive the average OCD person crazy... I use this stuff called BDP (Brake Dust Professional). Its a touch less brake dust remover that you can purchase at the DipYourCar.com website. It works great for Plastidipped wheels!

I just cleaned and washed the rim extremely good. They do sell a Pre dip spray on the website DipYourCar.com but I didn't bother. As long as you get all the brake dust off or at least most of it the PlastiDip sprays on extremely well. I used 4 coats per rim.

Check out my Garage, I dipped my rims on my 135i in Anthracite grey with a Glossifier coat. They came out awesome!

Woohoo!! I'm a huge fan of plastidip... Thanks to dipyourcar.com! I put it on almost everything at this point. LOL!
Anyhow, I purchased an anthracite wheel kit a few months back for application on the X, just haven't been brave enough to actually put it on. I currently have the same style wheels, but this is actually the first time I've seen them dipped! So, thanks for posting! Now I'm not so afraid, they look great!

Thanks!! Don't be afraid of Plasti dip its so easy to use! and if you mess it up just peel it off! My wife loves her new black wheels. It keeps the car looking clean now because it masks the brake dust.

I only applied two coats of Glossifier and about 4 coats of the Anthracite plasti dip! Thanks for the comments! They still look amazing 4 months later.

Plasti dip sucks. I have used it alot in the past and always is more of a headache then its worth after some time to maintain if you live in a climate that has all 4 four seasons.

I'd have to agree with you but I live in Arizona and it works well for me!
