Need help with break pads

Hello all~!

Me and my girl just picked up a X6 50i with sports package few days ago. After few hundred km, wheels are coved with break dust. I'm willing to get a new pad set that make less dust but also keep the performance or better. So can anyone give me some advice or links to other Web-site?

yes I agree it is the one thing that really annoys me about BMW (they can engineer everything else but not break pads). You can get break pads that reduce the dust (not sure you can eliminate it) but they cost a lot and you have to replace them a lot more frequently.

My advice: Don't use generic brake pads other than original ones, from my past experience on an M3, the factory pads were MUCH better than the generic ones, had a lot of problems since the generic pads left a thin layer of pad in the rotor face, then the vibration came when braking, remember that the pads in your car were design for it, unless you want to install a big-brake-kit like a Brembo.
Is better to clean your wheels more often, believe me

Be careful. Once you switch from OEM, I doubt the dealer will perform free maintenance on the brakes/rotors.

I would check with your dealer first.

Look at it this way:
Dirty wheels = you are enjoying the great brakes this car has......
Clean wheels = car is sitting in your garage, waist of money....

I wish I had the budget for a 5.0, enjoy your monster !!

It's one of life's compromises.
If you eat u have to brush your teeth after.
Just wash it once a week.
Enjoy the famous BMW stopping power.
