These infographic type images seem to pop up once a year and I absolutely love them for no other reason than the combination of cars and maps.

While it should come to no surprise to us that Toyota dominates NA I was surprised that BMW wins out in Germany! (Would've thought VW). In fact, BMW does very well across Europe, dominating in the UK, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Bulgaria. The domination doesn't stop there, BMWs remain popular across the Middle East as well as in Japan. Overall;, BMW ends up taking the #2 spot to Toyota, raking up 51 countries compared to Toyota's 74.

Now just for the pedantic people out there, yes yes Google may not be the dominant search engine in some of these countries so the data is skewed. But just have fun with this one.

I'm not surprised that bmw wins out in europe as bmw is very popular over here.
Maybe not the most sold but probably the most wanted

I would have thought audi would pop up more in some countries though.

So, basically, take the number 1 selling car in any region, and that is the most common vehicle searched in that region.

BMW is not the #1 selling car in lots of those countries in europe.
Brands like VW, Ford, Opel and such sell better in lots of countries.
If you look at the UK and germany (the biggest european markets) BMW doesnt rank higher than 4th place in the sales figures.

By Toyota winning North America, they should of individually counted the states to the total number of 50 vs 1 big country. As the rest of the world are all countries, why couldn't they take Europe and just do 1 for bmw as they did for North America

And being bosnian former Yugoslavia, bmw is definitely not #1 in that country. The people barely make enough to support the family's and educate their kids. Last thing they think about is buying a car, especially a bmw

Where you say North America I think you mean USA?
Europe population: 743 million
USA population: 318 million
Sure there are states bigger population than loads of european countries, but also vice versa.
They also took china and india as single countries. why not take those as single countries and the rest of the world as one? China or India has more inhabitants as Europe and NA combined.

Yes North America as in USA, and I agree. I feel like this test wasn't thought out correctly or was done by a bmw fan boy

Somehow I have that same feeling.

Indeed it doesnt add up.
I checked it with google trends which can display popularity in search parameters and for instance the UK:
https://www.google.nl/trends/explore...rcedes,VW,Ford

Ford is the most popular search, above BMW from 4 brands I tested. But BMW is second. (and bmw was the most popular in germany of those 4 parameters)
They probably only researched the brands displayed?

edit: no, in the Czech Republic and slowakia hyundai isnt the most popular search. BMW is

Toyota is #1 in America? How depressing, they haven't made an exciting car for us since 1998. The LFA doesn't count.

Surprisingly no Ford at all?

You know, now that you mention it there are a lot of Hynudai's in those Russian dash cam crash videos lol.

Knowing global demographics, branding, marketing, and aspirational culturism as I do ...

... absolutely none of this surprises me. Not even Peugeot being #1 in Denmark. #ImminentInvasion #Occupied2Denmark #BeFrenchOrDie

In fact, this outlines how narrow-minded the thinking is toward BMW in this country. Globally it's a much more powerful brand than many realize ... and it's not totally because it's an ultimate vehicle. Yes, it's aspirational. But it's also accessible.

As for the nincompoop who wants a breakdown per U.S. state: Your former country is now five-ish countries and appears to be a much happier place (It certainly gave me that impression a number of years ago). Hell: even Albania is doing better despite being next to the constantly spewing economic volcano (and perpetually in denial about that) that is Greece. We in the U.S. don't need to do that, thankyouverymuch.

USA with Toyota lol. I would expect MX to be interested in Mazda, as it is an extremely popular brand here.
