Paddle shifter fault
Hello fellow bimmerians
After having some hydraulic fluid hoses replaced by my dealer for leaking steering fluid, now my paddle shifters are not working. Also quite interestingly and strangely, when I slide the gear shifter over into S mode, it snaps back into D by itself, like when you hit the P button from S mode. Anybody know WTF is going on? Thanks

another issue I noticed...
the illumination for the steering wheel multifunction buttons is gone, although the buttons themselves are working.. (volume, phone, etc...). hmmmm strange
I have already checked all fuses in the rear compartment and underneath the glovebox... no fuses were blown.... No one? ? Forum gurus??....

I'm not sure why the paddles aren't working, but I wouldn't spend my time trying to figure it, I'd bring it straight back to the dealer and have them sort it out, especially considering everything worked fine before they touched it last.
Either way, best of luck getting that sorted out. |

It's a steering wheel cartridge broken. Not expensive to replace. Proper name "coil spring cartridge). Responsible for steering angle, buttons, lights and the paddle shifters.

mhkm - Did you find the root cause??
This is the only thing I found in SEARCH that is remotely close to my current issue with SPORT/MANUAL shift mode not working. I don't have paddles, but my shifter lever had been acting up and now it won't go into M/S mode at all and doesn't make that 'clunk' sound when going into Park or otherwise. Here is that thread if you wish to reply there - THANKS: https://www.xbimmers.com/forums/show....php?t=1610330
